Field Teaching 3

Our plan today was to finish teaching the last two machine groups from last class and then to do the same thing with the next three machines. We figured that the remaining 3 machines are not difficult to explain and understand so they shouldn’t take too much time. Just to be on the safe side, we decided not to do stations for the last two machines. The class was a bit rowdy today and they really wanted to talk and move around. One boy kept on showing me his home-made simple machines book from under his desk while I was teaching the class. I guess we should always have the class seated on the rug when doing whole class instruction maybe? Somehow, we still found ourselves rushing a bit because the students were not understanding what to fill in on the handouts as much as we thought they would. We are going to have to devote more time to explain the answers for their worksheets.
